I'm trying to get a Comcast connection working for a customer. They bought the
"Workplace Enhanced Static IP" package. Comcast dropped an SMC modem/router at
the customer site and I'm trying to get incoming connections to work. I set our
internal router to the external IP address along with the Gateway address I was
given and the DNS addresses. Unfortunately the SMC device is acting like a
firewall. My server is not receiving packets on their remote desktop port
(3389). When I toggle my router's "respond to ICMP requests" setting, pinging
the external address works but that's all that I can seem to get working.
Anyone had any experience with one of these beasts? I've been on hold with
Comcast for the past 45 minutes after talking with a tech who turned off the
SMC's NAT service and turned on it's ability to pass VPN traffic.
