Subject: compiling problems

Hi, after reinstalling my whole system, and the 10 hours of problems that
entailed (we won't go into that) I'm finally semi fuctional and trying to
install various stuff. Right now I'm trying to compile qt-2.0.2 so that I
can then install licq.

My problem so far is that when it tries to link some stuff i get the
message:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lm

now I have a file /lib/libm.so.6 which is a symlink to /lib/libm-2.1.2.so
and /lib is in my /etc/ld.so.conf and i've run ldconfig but I still get
the same error. Any idea what the problem is?

TIA
