I'll second the plug for the "Unix System Administration Handbook", or the "Barney Book" as some have taken to calling it. For those who haven't seen it, the prominent color of the cover is best described as children's dinosaur purple. It officially covers Red Hat Linux, FreeBSD, HP-UX, and Solaris, and what you end up with is a good general feeling of how Unix-like systems should work. Worth at least one complete reading, and handy to have as a reference. You'll also want to spend a LOT of time at linuxdoc.org, or one of its mirrors (http://www.nexttime.com/LDP/). You'll find the HOWTO section most helpful for specific tasks, and the Guides section contains online versions of several book length works. - -- -Matt It is true that if your paperboy throws your paper into the bushes for five straight days it can be explained by Newton's Law of Gravity. But it takes Murphy's law to explain why it is happening to you. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8jMbGc8/WFSz+GKMRAia4AJ9nQjVUVm+RkagobF2Ncng0Qu1bNACffOpb X2uA1TMGbdX2d0YEdC11Yeo= =Lgh0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ***************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the text 'unsubscribe gnhlug' in the message body. *****************************************************************
