Dear list members, With apologies for any cross-posting. I hope you are all having a nice December and run up to Christmas. I'm writing to you to announce that the Open Science MOOC is now live on the open source Eliademy platform <https://eliademy.com/catalog/catalog/product/view/sku/02d7338a7e>! The pilot module on Open Research Software and Open Source already has more than 150 people enrolled and completing the tasks, and the feedback we are getting is overwhelmingly positive <https://twitter.com/MooHoll/status/1072462954623311874>.
My small ask of you during this festive season is a little help with getting out the word now, and helping us to break out of our little social media bubble. Anything from emails, social media shares, or even mentioning to a friend/colleague offline would be deeply appreciated. I think some of you on this last have already provided signal boosts, which we are exceptionally grateful for, especially as a volunteer-driven project. Don't forget also that anyone can join our growing community on Slack (330 members; https://openmooc-ers-slackin.herokuapp.com/) or GitHub (84 members; https://open-science-mooc-invite.herokuapp.com/) if you haven't already. Some key points to remeber are that our courses are completely free, they are self-paced so can be completed in your own time, all content is freely available and openly licensed for use either on or off the platform, and offline in workshops etc. too. For researchers, a key message is that the skills and knowledge learned in each module will be useful both inside and outside of academia. In the new year, we expect to be able to launch the second module on Open Principles too, for which development is coming along nicely for here <https://github.com/OpenScienceMOOC/Module-1-Open-Principles>. Please do get in touch if you would like to learn anything more about any of this. Thank you all too for your ongoing support. We are thankful to be part of such a great network of people and organisations, and appreciate any assistance you might be able to lend us as we take off. A final reminder to please make sure to take some real holiday time this Christmas season. I know you all work really hard, but taking some time for yourselves will help you to re-energise your creativity and productivity to take on 2019!
