RESPONSE: Your first two statements appear to be contradictory - and it appears uncertain with "classy" whether you are referring to castes. And who are these oldies you refer to - the one's that benefitted from the Quarte Classe education ? The one that benefitted from attending the Lyceum or Escola Technica in Panjim or other institutes in Margao or Ponda ?? Or possibly those that continued their higher education in Portugal or India ?? > Stop being blind and thank the gulf countries for accepting > people with the crap level of education. RESPONSE: Your emotional outbursts cannot help in any discussion, if at all you are interested in discussion. It is ridiculous for you to suggest that successful Goans working in Gulf countries and making a respectable living are doing so with a "crap level of education". You are baring your elitist point of view here !! RESPONSE: Thanks Joseph! Thanks for sharing your father's personal situation. Would it possible for your father to shed light on whether the practice as quoted by Domnic is true? This could be an exception more than the norm. The Zamindars (landowners) lorded over rural India to control the peasants....did the Portuguese use the landowners (Bhatkars / Zamindars) and the 'Goan elite' (Hindu/Catholic) to control the Goan populace ?? Was education for the benefit of a chosen few? It's a well-known fact that education and information have empowered people to succeed in their lives and have enabled families to break-out of the shackles of those that lorded over them.
