To, The Administrator, GOANET, Sir, Subject: Press note for kind favour of publication. The Goa Su-Raj Party is indeed surprised to note that the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General has refused to give the relevant information sought by Mr. Manohar Parrikar in relation to his indictment by its [CAG] report on IFFI-2004 for misappropriation and misuse of public funds. The CAG report has indicted none other than the former Chief Minister and the present Leader of the Opposition. Mr. Manohar Parrikar has the right to demand the source of CAG's information which he believes has been cooked in connivance with the present day political leadership in power, to show him and his erstwhile government in bad light. This is a serious charge on the country's 'watch-dog' institution of repute. Also the office of the CAG cannot hide behind the filmsy excuse that the confidential notings on the relevant files sought for inspection under RTI cannot be made available. Supreme Court of India has quashed this argument already. In view of the above, the Goa Su-Raj Party feels that in the name of transparency and good governance, for which Mr. Manohar Parrikar himself was amply accused during the tenure of his own government, the office of the CAG should throw the books at him so that he does not get away with maligning the reputation of the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India. In the eyes of the law, all citizens must be seen as equal and their rights respected. Thanking you, for Goa Su-Raj Party Sd/- (Floriano C. Lobo) General Secretary/Spokesperson. Address: 2nd.
