News channels have reported that there was an attempt to kill Umar Khalid
today. I do not agree. The attempt to kill him began long back. Today was
just the culmination of a systematic hate campaign which was planned
several months prior against the former JNU Student Leader. News channels,
anchors and journalists need to hang their head in shame. They are
responsible for this. Who gave them the right to call others
anti-nationals? It is a pity to see Umar Khalid, Kanaiya and so many others
being vilified day in and day out by some of these news channels. Branding
those who do not agree with a particular point of view as anti-national or
part of the Tukde Tukde gang is extremely unfair. Are these media channels
not sensible enough to understand the repercussions of their hate filled
campaigns? How much are they paid to do this? If this is how mainstream
media is allowed to report and present their stories, then I wonder where
we are heading as a Nation? Shame on them especially Journalists like
Arnab Goswami and channels like Republic TV and Times Now. 9pm Prime Time
has become an entertainment show for these channels. No longer is it
objective news and analysis. Today's "attempt to kill" co-conspirator is
Arnab Goswami. Is there no independent regulatory body to keep such rogue
elements in the media under check? The Nation wants to know.
