In a spiritual sense it awed all of us in the organizing team to see such a huge turnout. There was no one who attended this event out of fear of the Pandemic. Our expectations of a mere “double figure” shocked us all when the numbers rose to above 100 people from our Goan Community who turned up to pay homage to one our favourite Saint “St. Anthony”. Without exaggeration the number of people present were above 150 which included a few local Tanzanian and not forgetting the Sisters of “Wa Dada Mdogo” . We were blessed with the presence of Fr. Mario Dias as our main celebrant alongside the Director of Mbagala Spiritual Centre (Fr. Paul Shewiyo) and then there were another 3 priest and 3 Deacons who were part of the ensemble at the altar. The Sponsors Iona, Mark & Brenda and their families made a humongous effort to make sure we had everything in sync from the Deco to the event arrangement with assistance from The Hugo Domingo team (Originally known as Vayle Springs) and Barian Shah. Lovely Choir led by Joselle and the youth team. Snacks of assortments with Juice, water and Hot Masala tea were just perfect to cap the event. The Highlight of this feast among all other was that we never expected to have this event amid the fearful pandemic. We postponed the event from June to August to give it enough time to let the fear ease out. It did and we pray that this confidence be blessed by the faith of all of us here in Tanzania. Our set target of being able to feed 200 families at a budget of TShs 1,000,000/- every month for 12 months with a Zawadi top up of an additional 1,000,000/- for Christmas and Easter summed up to a total of 14 Million TSHs. Would we make it in this kind of a scenario where people were out of jobs and mentally psyched for survival?? I was dumbstruck…..On the day of the feast…8th August 2020…4.30pm…Just when I was finalizing the collections along with Brenda, I get a top up of additional donations…. We made it….We collected 14 Million 450 Thousand. This is not to say that we collected the highest amount…no…Through this scenario of the Pandemic and shortfalls…we made the impossible happen and this is all to the poor families who need to be fed. This is for you Grandolfo…Just to spearhead another of your favourite…”St. Anthony of Lisboa was the Miracle worker behind this achievement” Keep well. As always, Greg. *From:* Adolfo Mascarenhas [mailto:adca...@gmail.com] *Sent:* Tuesday, August 11, 2020 3:29 PM *To:* George Pinto; colin d'cruz; Frederick Noronha; Vivian A. With all the publicity given to masks, musk and even muscles, Colin is being given a lecture on ::::: told <<<do not be fooled …History and facts are important and matter:: <<<Adolfo Wonders Should Colin and his group STOP !!!! :::: TWO I GET IT instead of WGD , it should be called GWGD or SWGD.. or even FGWGD. I do not recollect Rene, from Dar es Salaam….ever calling it a RWGD.(R standing Rene ::: In Dar es Salaam, Rene PROMOTED IT ie World Goa DAY and also indirectly informed others Goans, in Tanzania celebrate WGD. Goans in Da es Salaam celebrate many feasts, Christmas, Annual Bachelors/ Married Ball and Saint Xavier Feast is really a big event…and even St Anthonio of Lisboa … .WGD is really incidental, of the feast with or without Rene or anyone else telling them what to celebrate ::::THREE CONGRATULATION S George and Filomena You state <<<<World Goa Day was initiated and started by Goa Sudharop. The idea was proposed by Filomena Giese, co-Founder of Goa Sudharop. Goa Sudharop paid for the initial set-up (website design, logo, domain, etc,) as one of Goa Sudharop's projects>>>> ::::THREE B You go on:::::. I had initially suggested Jan 1 as the date - a new year, a new beginning for Goans::::: I am glad George that you did not succeed::::Can you imagine telling the Dar Group forsaking their NEW YEAR Celebration because a new year has began with WGD …Even My uncle from Planet MARS will actually scream and Remind me that Time is There, it was not invented by Humans, Certainly not by GOANS I am not a physicist but I know enough Of Physics to be astonished >>>> ::::THREE B::: You inform us <<<<<. The late Jorge Noronha (Portugal) suggested August 20 to coincide with Konkani being made the official language of Goa (1992). Goa Sudharop heavily promoted the idea of WGD. With this wonderful Idea from Jorge Noronha, I just wonder why he did not call it WORLD KONKANI DAY….WKD the acronym would be linked to something mechanical like furniture I saw in Margao, from Malaysia it was CND (Completely knocked down bunker bed to surprise the kids it fits into a cardboard box:::: ::::FOUR You state Rene was a Goa Sudharop advisor at that time but with a failure of character Rene brought the publicity to himself and has never acknowledged or corrected the record and promoted WGD as his own, never contributing a single penny::::: HORRIBLE REALLY HORRIBLE …An Advisor taking over ….I have been Advisor to several Presidents, including TZ …I would be SHOT IF I TRIED TO TAKE OVER….. :::Maybe my friend Rene in an absent minded way thought he was promoting a THING...not an Idea ..This is a terrible MARKETING STRATEGY g 😜 Eg <<<BUY Two Get One Free>>> or <<<BUY Five Pink Shirts and Get One Free<<,Only a sucker would buy 5 Pink shirts :::: ::::FOUR B ..Rene sent out, …Sudharop did the initial work to launch WGD and I personally spent a lot more time than Rene to get WGD off the ground.:::: CONGRATULATIONS RENE not only took off he Circled the Globe >>>>:::: ::::: FINALLY you state >>This is typical of some Goans who talk a good game about cooperation and unity but take all the credit….<<<<< Then they ask why Goans are backward compared to other *communities and Goans cannot move forward in unity<<<<<< I AM REALLY HORRIFIED *Goans are backward compared to other *communities*, YOU ARE ONLY JOKING RIGHT…YOU ARE JUST FOOLING US. ::::A Backward Community where there were Catholic,,,long before because one of the original 12 Apostle, Thomas and his companion Bartholomew walked Syria, Afghanistan and all this about 1500 before SFX ( the Portugese were pagans still worshiping idols etc :::: Then take the the all Girls Band in Moira, Artist, Musicians Lawyers GOANS WERE STREAKS AHEAD AND STILL ARE of other communities they even convinced the Hindus of Goa not to burn widows etc etc ;;;;; ::::Colin and your Group ;;;;; continue to be innovative and creative ::::When you share the Product, you become even richer…. Don’t hide your talent >>>> :::St Antonio of Lisbon :SAL}…he is a Patron Saint of Professors, of Native Americans and if you lose your way :::: I pray to SAL that your talents continue…LET THE MUSIC BEGIN Grandolfo In QUEPEM …The Din of the Monsoon Rains Like an EXPRESS TRAIN PS I worked 0ver 2 years in LA as a TA in UCLA.
