The British royals are living in a bubble, or as the French call it, 'outside 
(above) soil'. But aslo, as The Guardian exposed a few weeks ago, they were 
able to tweak legislation (bwo 'Royal Consent') in their favor till the 1990s, 
freeing them, among (not a) few other things, of obligations under the Race 
Relations Act, which prohibits emplyment discrimination on basis of ethnicity. 
They argued that 'it has not been a custom of the royal household to employ 
people of colour'. 

Now I wonder if this 'regal' attitude is not related to the somewhat enigmatic 
relationship of Queen Empress Victoria with her Indian man servant (Abdul? - 
which was the subject of a popular movie), and had raised eyebrows in 
Bukhingham Palace in its time. (cf also Lady Mountbaten and Jawaharlah Nehru ;-)
