Dear Editor, This is in responce to the letter by Mr. Floriano of Goa Suraj Party in responce to Ms. Anamika's letter.
I would like to pose following before Mr. Floriano : 1. You have casted doubts on good administering qualities of Mr. Manohar Parrikar. But I hope you recall that during Manohar's parrikars tenure as CM, the Government offices functioned well to serve the common man. This was only because he personally took care of complaints lodged by the comon man and not just sit in posh airconditioned cabins and give orders which none obey. I think his rounds at 2 AM during IFFI to supervise the works ensured that works got completed in time and upto international quality. Mr. Manohar Parrikar leads from the front unlike other politicians who believe in accumilating wealth at the cost of honest tax payers. 2. Can Mr. Floriano explain timely and quality completion of 14 Bridges, modern hospitals at Canacona, Mapusa (which Congress Govt. even after 3 years is not able to complete), bus stand at Canacona, during BJPs rule of 4 1/2 years. IFFI which was touted as a great waste of public money has gifted Panaji with a 4 lane road from bus stand till Donapaula (I can imagine teh traffic chaos had 4 laning not been a reality). 3. As far as secular credentials of Manohar Parrikar goes, he recruited appx 4.6% total recruitment in Police Dept as christians (Congress could barely touch 3.6%). Manohar Parrikar was the person who took initiative to paint Panaji Church of Mary Immaculate with fungus free paint instead of normal white wash which used to fade with every Monsoon fury (and that too at Government cost). He promoted Fontainhas Fete which has large no of Catholic residents participating in it. He completed bypass road to old Goa in 75 days and ensured that Exposition of St Francis Xavier (2004) was the most well organise despite record no of pilgrims visiting the same. He also appointed a Goan Catholic officer Mr. Allan Desa as commissioner of Exposition thereby ensuring hassel free exposition. During Congres rule in 2005, our Arch Bishop was stuck in traffic jam and could not reach the mass in Time. When Bandra, Mumbai church was facing demolition due to road widening during Congress regime in Maharashtra, head of the church found it fit to approach Manohar Parrikar and he was the one who tried his level best to mobilise support against demolitions and finally succeded in his mission. Manohar Parrikar's chosen officers were Mr. Sanjit Rodrigues, Mr. Elvis Gomes, Mr. Allan Desa, all catholics I think this is why we Catholics from Panjim supported him in our full capacity and succeded in ensuring victory for him in Panjim Constituency despite of communal campaign unleashed by the likes of Datta Naik. I request Catholics to open up and support Manohar Parrikar who is presently leading a crusade against monstrous SEZs in Goa which will destroy the Face of Goa and turn Catholic Community into a miniscule minority. Wake up Goa. Wake up Catholic Community. Its high time we support Manohar Parrikar in his crusade and Save Goa for our Children. Regards Dominic Fernandes
