DFF AND GOA GOVERNMENT SIGN MoU ON IFFI-2007

PIB, Oct 26, New Delhi: The Directorate of Film Festivals, (DFF), M/o I&B and the Goa Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on IFFI-2007. The MoU outlines the role and responsibilities between the DFF and the Goa State Government, for the IFFI, which is being organised in Goa from 23rd November to 3rd December 2007.

As per the major provisions of the MoU, signed yesterday, DFF would have authority in deciding all matters relating to entries of films in all the sections, selection and preparation of film programmes, inviting film personalities, film delegates, setting up of various functional units, all matters regarding issue of Delegate cards and be responsible for Media briefs on all matters. Director DFF would be sole recognized Festival Director of the event.

The Goa Government would be responsible for making available all required infrastructure for the festival, including six theatres besides the Main Festival theatre, functional office space and the Media Centre with requisite paraphernalia. They would arrange hotel accommodation for delegates; arrange air tickets and local transport, and also assist DFF in providing local human resources for the smooth conduct of the Festival.

Meanwhile, the first meeting of the Organizing Committee for IFFI-2007 concluded yesterday. The Meeting was presided by the Hon'ble Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Priyaranjan Dasmunsi. The Goa Minister for Water Resources, Mr. Filip N. Rodrigues and other leaders from the Indian Film Industry and its related trade bodies attended the meeting. In keeping with a request from the Film Industry, Shri Dasmunsi announced that students of film schools would be registered as delegates free of cost, as against the past practice of fifty percent discount.
