Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Panaji called Goa Chief
Minister Digamber Kamat to congratulate him for the party's victory in Mormugao
Lok Sabha bypoll.

"Just now I got a call from Sonia Gandhi congratulating
me for the victory. This is a victory of all the party workers who worked
overtime,"
Kamat told mediapersons outside the counting station in Margao town on
Saturday.

Refuting the BJP's allegation that the low voters turn out
showed people's no confidence in the state government, the chief minister on
Saturday said that the victory has proved that the Goan voters are with them.

Kamat also lauded its alliance partner Nationalistic
Congress Party (NCP) for their share in the campaigning. "NCP leaders
campaigned with us throughout, which anointed our victory," he said.

Though he did not comment directly on other two alliance
partners -- Save Goa Front (SGF) and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) who
had declared their support to the Congress candidate.

"I presume everyone worked for us and that is why the
Congress got victorious," he mentioned.
