Dear Friends,

On 15th August 2008 the Govt. of India will be celebrating independence day
once again to mark the anniversary of India's independence from the British.

The Govt. of India passed the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 to enable the
disabled in India to become independent by providing them equal opportunities
and giving them a helping hand to compete with the able bodied.

However even after 12 years of the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 is the
disabled truly independent? Has the Govt. of Goa done anything remarkable in
the field of education, employment, accessibility to ensure the independence of
the disabled in Goa. Problems gallore in each and every field.

Disability Rights Association of Goa invites suggestions from the group whether
we should have a dharna on Saturday 16th August 10 am in Panjim to ask the
Govt. of Goa this very question.

Awaiting early reply
