To Goanet -

Christians and Muslims have no >dignity left in India. I see. Should the Hindus of India learn about "dignity" from one of those sheikhdoms you grew up in, those paragons of religious pluralism and tolerance? The situation in Orissa is a human tragedy. But to Selma Cardoso it is a delicious confluent cocktail of bigotry and political prejudice - her own. A perfect opportunity to score cheap political points on the pretext of speaking out against religious fanaticism. It is another matter that her favourite party is in control at the Centre at the moment and has shown utter incompetence in dealing with the situation, but shhh, not so loud. We are secular. We learn that Selma's love of humanity stops with Christians (and for nice effect, the add-on Muslims). Her faux conscience is stirred not because of violence against fellow human beings but because those humans happen to be Christians. Her expression of outrage is reserved exclusively for those occasions when Hindus run amuck. In times when Hindus are at the receiving end - oh, let's change the topic, shall we? We are secular And it ain't within Goanet's charter. The instances of Hindus ethnically cleansed from Kashmir, the desecration of Hindu religious places in Jammu etc, the depopulating of Hindus in neighboring Pakistan & Bangladesh, the terror/fear Hindus are subjected to in northern Kerala - indeed, anytime anyplace Muslims attain numerical superiority - merit no space in her moral hard drive. Violence against Hindus in Christian-majority Nagaland and other areas of NE India - oh, let's concentrate on Orissa, please. We are secular. Warm regards, r
