Dears,
I was listening to Barack Obama's victory speech and John McCain's speech
conceding the victory ...even while the results were not yet official. Two
great statesmen there ...the likes of whom are difficult to find anywhere on
Earth and next to impossible in Goa, this land of mines!

Two sentences from Barack Obama[aged 47 years] first.
1. "I will listen to you ...specially when we disagree."
2. "I received an extra ordinarily gracious call from Senator McCain. He has
fought this [electoral] battle long and hard ... and he has fought longer and
harder for the nation he loves."

John McCain [aged 72 years]:
" Americans have spoken, and spoken clearly. I called Senator Obama and
congratulated him on being elected the President of a country we both love."

I wish our leaders could say the same thing about India and Goa .... in victory
and in defeat ...that their land and people come first, not themselves!

Mog asundi.

[Goanet] The Promise of Obama

This is the dawn of a new age in the glorious history of a great nation. The
promise of Obama is not just a promise of an inspiring leader or a great
statesman. It is a promise of the possibility that the best ideas and
solutions gathered from the wisest minds will finally be usd to solve the
world?s problems, guided
by history and evidence rather than rigid ideologies, wedge issues and
political calculations. That intellectual curiosity and self-examination will
triumph over impulsiveness and expediency. That reason will prevail in all
material affairs. That rhetoric will be used to inspire and unite, not threaten
and incite. That human dignity will be respected as much as human life itself.
 Cheers, Santosh
