The current edition of Medieval Goa by the Portuguese historian Teotonio Sousa
in my opinion is comical. The excerpts of the book placed on GN is enough for
one to understand the rancour the author holds against his country Portugal.

The two face (suit and casti) described via the euphemism of his grandfather
shows the betrayal which seeped to the author of MG. Contrary to what the
author states in his book, history books indicate that Velha Cidade was a
flourishing city holding not only churches but also St. Paul's University which
had students from Madagascar to Japan. The plague story is also now questioned
as Marques de Pombal decided to end Catholic expansion in Goa. The worst thing
in this episode is that there were 3 dozen simpletons for the old wine story
inauguration and 1 cameraman who took 153 pics. What a waste of time!

Maybe the author wants attention - some kind of prize from the NRI chief who
was present for the inauguration.
