Goa’s special athletes shine with 34 medals at 1st National Games
Goa’s Special Olympics Bharat team put up a superlative showing at the
first National Games for persons with disabilities winning in all 34
medals – 13 gold, 15 silver, 6 bronze - organised by Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports at Nehru Stadium, Chennai recently. The Goa football
team clinched the gold in Division 2 beating West Bengal and Delhi.
Tyla Coutinho and Valino Fernandes bagged the gold in singles as well as
doubles badminton.
In 100m sprint, Gauresh Kamble won the gold.
Jovito Cardoso took the gold in bocce singles. In 100m wheel chair
paralympics, Mahesh Pagadale secured the gold.
Results: Peter Almeida ( Daddy’s Home), silver each in 4x100m relay and
100m.
Viraj Kerkar ( Lokvishwas), silver each in 4x100m relay, 100m and 200m.
Gauresh Kamble ( Ashadeep), gold in 100m, silver in 4x100m relay, bronze
in 200m.
Krupesh Velip ( Lokvishwas), silver in 4x100m relay, 4th in 100m, silver
in 200m.
Dwaipayan Majumder ( St. Xavier), bocce single bronze, bocce double silver.
Jovito Cardoso ( Gujarati Samaj), gold in bocce single and silver in
bocce double.
Football gold: Elston Travasso ( St. Xavier), Mayur Narvekar ( Disha),
Sameer Wadkar ( Disha), Elphinstone Colaco ( Daddy’s Home), Yogesh
Nilapanwar ( Daddy’s Home), Godfrey D’Silva ( Daddy’s Home).
Valino Fernandes ( Vidya Vikas) gold in badminton mixed doubles and gold
in badminton singles.
Tylo Coutinho ( Vidya Vikas) gold in badminton singles and gold in mixed
doubles.
Mahaesh Pagadale ( Ashadeep) gold in 100m, bronze in shot put.
Gopal Kunkalekar, silver in badminton singles.
Devraj Asangi ( Ashadeep), 4th in 100m, 4th in 200m.
Sujatadevi Passi ( Ashadeep), silver in 100m, bronze in 200m.
Shrikirishna Naik ( Ashadeep), bronze in badminton singles and silver in
badminton doubles.
Gauresh Gawade ( Lokvishwas), silver in badminton singles and silver in
badminton doubles.
