You might try installing a userscript into Chrome natively before asking about Greasemonkey's plans for porting -- IIRC, Chromium has had (basic, partial) support for userscripts for some months now, though it lacks the GM_ APIs.
I neither have nor desire Chrome, though, so YMMV.
