I read that, but I was confused that if that is so, then why do the
include and exclude filters have an option for file:/// ?
Because the syntax has to be there, and defined, even if most of the
time it will have no effect.
Is there any other use of file:/// filter other than for local files?
Files on a shared network drive are included too. There might be other
cases where "semi-local" files are included -- generally, anything that
Firefox or Windows itself would access as a file:/// URL (do Linux or OS
X use that protocol scheme natively?). I don't know of any such cases,
though.
