Green Tourism Association
World Leader in Urban Ecotourism Promotion & Industry Development 

Executive Director 
Part Time Position - 3 days/week, 1 Year Contract (potential for
renewal)* 

The Green Tourism Association is a unique non-profit organization that
works collaboratively with businesses, community and environmental
groups, government agencies, heritage and cultural organizations and
individuals to lead tourism in Toronto towards a sustainable future,
evolving an industry which is ecologically sound, promotes and supports
local economies, and fosters an appreciation of and respect for diverse
cultural and natural heritage. 

For over ten years, the Green Tourism Association has worked to promote
and develop the urban green tourism industry in the Toronto region. The
Association has developed several acclaimed tourism products and
initiatives including the Green Map, The OTHER Guide to Toronto, a
popular website (http://www.tourgreen.ca) and interactive Web Map,
community outreach and media relations campaigns, industry forums and
networking events.   
 
Looking forward, the Association is leading the development of a new
TourGreen Network initiative in Ontario.  The Network will link urban
green tourism destinations across the province and beyond through web
portal development, collaborative partnerships, package promotion,
industry events and conferences.

The Green Tourism Association requires an Executive Director to provide
organizational leadership, supervision of operations, projects and
member liaison, fundraising and sponsorship development, advancement of
tourism and government relations, identifying and pursuing industry
networking and partnership opportunities, and supervising staff and HR.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and supervises
2-3 staff.

Responsibilities: 
- Strengthing overall direction and long term strategy of the
Association
- Developing partnerships for projects and long term goals of the
Association
- Overall project and program management
- Hiring, coordinating, managing staff
- Working with the Board of Directors on strategic planning and
fundraising strategies
- Developing sponsor and funder relations and proposals
- Supervising membership campaigns and programs
- Supervising marketing, communications, PR and event planning
- Participating in and giving presentations at events and conferences

Qualifications: 
- At least 5 years of non-profit management experience in an executive
position
- Solid background and experience working with the tourism industry and
local governments
- University degree in tourism, environmental studies, marketing and/or
non-profit management
- Experience developing and writing funding proposals
- Strategic planning and Board management experience
- Developed understanding and communication of urban green tourism
- Experience with ecotourism, community sustainability and/or new
mobility initiatives an asset
*Full-time position could be offered depending on level of
qualification.
