Dear Dougald,

The International Coalition for Responsible Tourism is a French initiative.

Created in 2007, it is composed now by experts & professionals of tourism
industry, more than 80 NGO, professionals & individuals in 35 countries,
committed in responsible tourism and a committee composed by experts in one of
the 3 axes of the Sustainable Development (economic & fair, social & culture,
ecology & biodiversity).

The main aim of the International Coalition is to inform, to convince, to
denounce and to mobilize the main actors in tourism & sustainable
development field (professionals, governments, national & international NGO's)
to the interest of the concept of Responsible Tourism.

For the moment, the main action is the organization of the Worldwide Day for
Responsible Tourism on June 2d in Paris and in other cities (organized by NGO,
professionals & individuals members) in the world.

The aim of June 2nd Day is to make all the people involved in tourism
industry sensitive about the concept of Responsible Tourism. International
conferences are organized every year on June 2d in one specific country (for
the moment France) and also in different country members thanks to the
commitment of the members of the International Coalition. Every year, one topic
& one country have the place of honor.

The first edition has been organized on June 2nd 2007 under the theme: "No to
Sexual Tourism, borderless crimes". It was also organized in different
countries in the world: Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Togo, Senegal & Niger.

In 2008, chosen topic was: "Tourism as a tool to eliminating poverty"; Haïti
Destination had the place of honor.

In 2009, the topic will be “Tourism and Water Resources: Impacts,
Responsibilities & Solutions for the Future”. It will be organized in Paris
with the support of the Regional Council & the French Ministry of Sustainable
Development. Other countries will follow the movement like Cameroon, Togo,
Ivory Coast, Cambodia, Benin, Burkina, etc.

If you are interested to join the International Coalitioon, you can contact me,
I will send you the form to fill. It is free of charge.

Waiting hearing from you,

Kind regards,

 Guillaume.
