I don't know that I need the latest and greatest Globus Toolkit for what I'm
doing. The Fedora Core 12 repositories have Globus Toolkit packages. Do you
have any sense that these are "good enough" for most uses?

No GT version supports openssl 1.0 - even the upcoming GT 5.0.0. But, we plan
to add support for it in the first quarter of 2010. So, probably GT 5.0.1.
As for a workaround, can you install on older version of openssl and use that
for the globus build?
