You can buy finger cots in most pharmacies (in the US). They are stretchy cotton tubes for your fingers.
Yes, but I think that won't work because most of the dirt comes from the sides of your hands brushing against the fabric as you work, not so much your fingers. I really need something to wrap the whole hand.
