            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

While still in a cautiously optimistic holding pattern, this clearly is the best news
we've had in the region since the shooting spree begin...NBC's Pete Williams broke the
news that investigators found a Bushmaster .223 assault rifle in the car of the 2 men
arrested today at the rest stop in Frederick. It fires .223 rounds...The AP is
reporting "Police found a gun, a scope and a tripod in the car..."

While no one is conclusively saying this is "the guy," all signs are pointing in that
direction....Like me, I'm sure you were all glued to your sets until late into the
night...The story is clearly breaking on a number of fronts and we're constantly
picking new bits of information by the hour...I've laid out a number of stories below
and prefer they speak on my behalf...

Due to travel and other exigencies of his schedule today, we're sidelining
Chris...Mike Barnicle will host the show live from Rockville, MD and of course Shuster
will do a live report at the top and a "tick tock" of the last few days wrapping up
what we know...We'll then bring it out to a panel of experts...As you can imagine,
things are very fluid and up in the air...Rest assured we'll have the best hour of
news and analysis anywhere...Period

Stay with MSNBC on air and http://msnbc.com for the absolute latest...

Oh and by the way, the Arnold Schwarzenegger College Tour will air on Tuesday, the
29th and Rudy Giuliani from U Penn will be live on Wednesday, the 30th...
