            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Hardball, all the news from the biggest political weekend so far in
the race for '08. Plus, the latest from Washington, where Scooter Libby began
his defense in the CIA leak trial and House members are busy preparing for this
week's debate over the war in Iraq.

Join us tomorrow on MSNBC for special all-day coverage of "Iraq: Congress
Debates," starting at 9 AM with some of NBC's and MSNBC's finest, including
Chip Reid, Norah O'Donnell, David Gregory, Natalie Morales, John Seigenthaler,
Joe Scarborough and Chris Jansing.

On Hardball tonight, Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and Chris Shays (R-CT) will
tell us what to expect from the House battle that begins tomorrow. Then, NBC's
Jane Arraf talks to Lt. Gen. Martin Dempsey in Iraq about how much progress is
being made training Iraqi troops there. And Hardball Correspondent David
Shuster will have an update from the Libby trial, where the Washington Post's
Bob Woodward and syndicated columnist Robert Novak testified today. Read more
here from NBC News http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17112876/.

But we begin with the inside scoop from Chris, back from Sen. Barack Obama's
(D-IL) presidential announcement. MSNBC Political Analyst and Newsweek's Chief
Political Correspondent Howard Fineman and Hotline Editor-in-Chief Chuck Todd
will be here to talk about Obama and how the other '08 contenders spent the
weekend. In New Hampshire, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) was grilled over Iraq
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17112700/) while former New York City Mayor Rudy
Giuliani (R) spoke to a GOP crowd in California
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17114341/).

Then, former FBI agent Eric O'Neill was just 27 years old when he was asked to
help bring down Robert Hanssen, one of the most damaging spies in U.S. history.
O'Neill's story inspired the new movie "Breach." He'll be here tonight with
Billy Ray, writer and director of "Breach."
