            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

First up, another round of Cheney vs. Obama,

On Sunday, former Vice President Dick Cheney called the preliminary probe into
interrogation tactics an "outrage political act that will do great damage, long
term." He went on to attribute the interrogators as being "directly responsible
for the fact that for eight years, we had no further mass casualty attacks
against the United States." We'll play Hardball with former Congressman Duncan
Hunter (R-CA) and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) about the rule
of law and protecting the United States.

Next up, filling Ted Kennedy's seat.

In the aftermath of mourning the loss of Ted Kennedy, the debate begins on whom
will replace Kennedy and become the Democrats theoretical 60th vote. Not only
is it a problem of whom will become Kennedy's replacement but "when" as a 2004
law created a special election instead of an appointment. We'll discuss
Kennedy's possible replacement and when it should happen with Boston Globe's
Sam Allis and New York Observer's Steve Kornacki.
