Sorry, I meant paying for Surpass. Paying for LibraryCat is fine because it is
so cheap (I’m just not sure that it is the right interface for us).

TinyCat prices are only $3 a month for libraries under 1,000 books. I pay $6 a
month because our library has over 5,000 books.

I found LibraryCat to be too simple in its ordinary form, though I understand
that you can customize it, such as by permitting patrons to browse by tag. I
don’t mind LibraryThing’s public interface. And I’m not sure that I want to
spend any of my paltry annual budget on software when LibraryThing costs $25
for a permanent license!

Hi Micah and Shira,
I use Surpass in my library but our patrons are able to log on to our catalog
on their phone or computer by using a new account I created through
LibraryThing called TinyCat. The TinyCat feature is more like a library
data-base and more library friendly for patrons than the original LibraryThing
which is used by me for data entry. Here is a link to our library account so
you can see how it works. Temple members can see the new books as they are
accessioned, find my reviews, and actually reserve a book through this link.

Hope this helps.

I have recently created a catalog of our library using LibraryThing. It costs
a staggering $25 for a lifetime membership and it is otherwise free. It is a
very full-featured library catalog program—I highly recommend it.

Our adult education division has a small library and would like to have a way
to keep track of the books and check them in and out. An administrative
assistant will handle the details once I have gotten them up and running. If
anyone can recommend user friendly library software that is either free or
inexpensive, I'd be so appreciative!

Many thanks,
