There is currently an opening on the Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award Committee. The Committee reviews unpublished manuscripts of Jewish literary fiction for ages 8-13 using a standard set of criteria. The winning manuscript (there is not always a winning manuscript) receives a cash prize. In the last few years several of the manuscripts have been published by both small presses and large publishing houses. The committee consists of 5 members plus a chairperson. The judging takes place in early winter after the December 31 deadline. For more details about the award visit the AJL website. The committee membership represents AJL's diverse geographical, philosophical, and professional diversity. Current members of another award committee are not eligible. If you are interested in serving on this committee (a five year term) please send me a resume and writing samples, preferably reviews of children's books. Please reply off list as soon as possible
