Introducing our newest course to our roster of courses is Library Management 101
Thursdays, February 3, 10, and 17, 20223:00PM PT / 6:00PM ET (90 minutes)$150
nonmembers / $75 membersInstructor: Kathy Bloomfield
This highly interactive class will teach the management skills needed to
understand the business of running your library with the goals of knowing what
your leadership expects, learning how to make yourself and the library
relevant, and ensuring the library is a priority in your institution. Topics
covered include determining objectives and goals; developing mission statements
and strategic plans; organizing time, money, facilities, and people;
prioritizing; and directing and monitoring others. The course will include
homework, discussions, and an assignment due at the end of the third session.
Instructor Kathy Bloomfield is the president of the Association of Jewish
Libraries. Though currently “retired,” she uses her time for a variety of
activities such as book editing, book reviewing, and managing her personal
library of over two thousand books. With over forty-five years of experience in
for-profit, nonprofit, and entrepreneurial business, volunteer roles including
synagogue president, and innumerable committee work, she is ideally suited to
use her expertise to assist others in finding their managerial talents. Kathy
lives in Seal Beach, California.
