The Association of Jewish Libraries is pleased to offer a combined academic scholarship with conference subvention. The award includes an academic scholarship of $3000 to a student enrolled in or accepted into a graduate school of library and information science, in combination with a conference subvention award (not to exceed $2000) to cover registration, travel expenses, and hotel (double occupancy) associated with attending the Association of Jewish Libraries annual conference in person in San Diego in June 2024. Conference attendance is required as a condition of accepting the scholarship.
Prospective candidates should have knowledge of and interest in Jewish studies, and demonstrate the potential, ability, and intention of pursuing a career in Judaica librarianship. This scholarship is merit-based rather than needs-based. AJL welcomes and highly encourages award recipients’ involvement in the organization through volunteer and mentorship opportunities. By attending the conference, the awardee will benefit from special programming geared toward first-time attendees and networking with librarians at all career stages and specializations.
