I've successfully used an Evolution EV-10 and an Edirol UA-25, although the latter is primarily an audio interface.
But, anything USB-audio standards-compliant should work without problems on any recent OS (whether WinXP, OS X, or Linux).
I use qjackctl to hook up apps that use the ALSA MIDI interface, even when I'm not using JACK for audio.
