Incidentally, if your colleagues might be interested in a modern
Haskell-like approach to logic programming (pure, strong types, etc.),
they should check out Mercury -- see <http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/mercury>.
Unfortunately there aren't any great debugging environments for Mercury
yet either... though we hope to be able to remedy that situation
sometime in the not-to-distant future.
