The Fourth International Conference and Exhibition on
The Practical Application of Constraint Technology

Wednesday 25th March - Friday 27th March 1998, London, UK
                     http://www.demon.co.uk/ar/PAPPACT98/

          ****** Paper Submission deadline: December 5th, 1997 ******

PAP/PACT98 is sponsored and supported to date by: AI International, Amzi!
inc., CompulogNet, IF Computer, Integral Solutions Ltd, LPA, Prolog
Development Centre, PrologIA, Prolog Management Group, Association of Logic
Programming, Lionheart Publishing Inc. and is held in cooperation with the
AAAI.

Call for Participation

The PAP/PACT conference and exhibition is the premier forum for Prolog and
Constraint applications and systems.

Now in their sixth and fourth years respectively this joint conference builds on
the success of previous conferences and continues to demonstrate the
benefits of using Prolog and constraints for solving real-world problems.
PAP/PACT98 will focus on the growing industrial exploitation of these
technologies, and explore the tangible benefits for business, and identify
future trends.

Both Prolog and constraints offer significant advantages, including
increased productivity, reduced maintenance, and adaptable solutions which
can react to changing business requirements. Moreover, the underlying
research and scope of these technologies is still evolving with new ideas
and techniques continually emerging.

PAP/PACT98 provides an excellent opportunity to appreciate the breadth of
application of these technologies, to share new developments in the field
and to find out how to exploit these developments in practice.

Conference Objectives

PAP/PACT98 will provide a rich blend of tutorials, invited talks, refereed
papers, panel discussions, an exhibition, a poster session and social
agenda. The result, as in previous years, is an ideal forum for the
exchange of ideas and knowledge, between experts from a broad spectrum of
industries and technologies.

PA EXPO98

PAP/PACT98 will form part of a five day Practical Application Expo which
will also include:
PADD98-The Practical Application of Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining
PAAM98-The Practical Application of Intelligent Agent and Multi Agent
Technology
PAKeM98-The Practical Application of Knowledge Management.
The Four conference and tutorial programmes will overlap, enabling
delegates to get the best possible value from attending these events.

You are invited to register your interest for PAP/PACT98 by completing the
reply form below.

Call for Papers

As the conference focuses on the real-world benefits of technology,
preference will be given to papers describing fielded applications, and to
papers describing techniques which have ready application in producing
industrial strength code.
Also of interest are descriptions of advanced prototypes, tools and
techniques, and general survey papers which indicate the future directions
for logic programming and constraint technology.

Topics might include but are not limited to:
        Applications for:
        The Web/Multimedia
        Manufacturing/Engineering
        Commerce
        Consumers
        Medicine
        Finance/Insurance

        Tools for:
        Timetabling
        Transportation and Distribution
        Planning
        Scheduling
        Business Process Modelling
        Databases and Data Exchange

Papers should be no more than twenty pages long. Five copies of your
paper, in English, should be received by the conference organisers, on or
before December 5,1997. Papers from non English speakers are strongly
encouraged, however we would ask that your paper is proof read by a native
English speaker, if possible, before submission.

Please include:

Your E-mail Address

Authors of successful submissions will be notified by January 12, 1998.
Accepted papers in camera-ready format will be due by February 13, 1998.

Call for Exhibitors

PAP/PACT98 provides an excellent opportunity for vendors and
developers to demonstrate their systems. You are invited to contact the
conference organisers to arrange for your application to be exhibited at
the event.
