Hello, We are pleased to announce the first alpha release of Hibernate Search in the new 8.0 series: 8.0.0.Alpha1.
This version introduces metric aggregations, improved logging, a new Lucene backend, and more. It also upgrades the Lucene and Hibernate ORM dependencies and is compatible with the latest Elasticsearch and OpenSearch versions. Hibernate Search 8.0 sets JDK 17 as a baseline and is no longer compatible with JDK 11. You can find the new Lucene-based backend under `org.hibernate.search:hibernate-search-backend-lucene-next`. We encourage users running their Hibernate Search applications on JDK 21 or higher to try this backend to get the most out of the recent Lucene improvements.
