*Urgent Recruitment* *About SAM* Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) is a national grassroot, community-focused non-governmental organization championing environment and development issues. Its activities include educating the general public on the need for ecologically sound development; assisting communities which have been adversely affected by so-called development; and advocating for a development model that is ecologically sustainable, socially just and fulfils the human needs of the majority. SAM operates from its HQ in Penang, and from its Borneo Office in Marudi, Sarawak, and works together with communities throughout Malaysia . Founded in 1977, SAM' work has been recognized with the award of the Global Honour Roll in 1978, the Alternative Nobel Prize in 1988 and the Goldman Award in 1991. *Vacancy I : Policy Research Officer* Responsible to carry out research and advocacy on Malaysian environmental related policy *Requirements* - At least Bachelor Degree in environmental related, law or planning - Proficient in both English and Malay Language – writing and oral - Ability to manage multiple task / issues - Able to work independently with less supervision - High interest in NGO, Environmental and Community Work - Able to communicate and work with local and grass root community - Prepared to work under adverse field conditions and adapting to odd working hours - Interest in law and policy related issue. - Candidates with working experience on related subject are encourage to apply - Driving license and mobile *Task * - Research and monitoring on Environmental related policy in Malaysia - Developing technical paper on policy related matters i.e. National Policy, EIA and Structure Plans - Assist Field Research Officer and Community groups on policy related matter - Other task that is deemed necessary relating to the above *Vacancy II: Clerk* Minimum Requirement 1. SPM @ STPM @ Diploma 2. Computer literate 3. Good command of English and Bahasa Melayu in oral and writing 4. Preferably women Post vacancies in Penang Head Office.
