Buat aje aduan macam kes dibawah ni, apa takut? -------------- Why doc so ham sap? By Yeoh Oon Chuan 21 April 2000 WAS the doctor being professional or just plain ham sap? This question has been troubling Lai as she felt violated by an ear-nose-and-throat (ENT) specialist during a medical examination. The 25-year-old former waitress from Sungai Besi had been seeing the specialist in Kuala Lumpur since last December for treatment of a prolonged throat infection. In her last visit on April 10, the male doctor, who is in his 40s, removed her blouse and her bra without seeking her consent. There was no nurse present at that time. " I was too taken aback to resist. I didn’t know what was going on. Maybe he needed to remove my blouse to do something. "But he merely pressed my throat area. At one point, his right forearm brushed against my breast. I felt really uncomfortable." Lai said the doctor had removed her blouse and bra on two previous occasions in January and March. But the nurse was present both times in the consultation room. After the last visit, she felt confused and wondered whether the doctor was being ham sap (Cantonese phrase for lewd or lascivious). She told her boyfriend about it and he was indignant. Both called up The Malay Mail to ask for advice. Lai, who is temporarily unemployed as she is recuperating from her illness, said: " I have seen other doctors about my problem. They have examined the throat and chest area without touching my breasts." She said the doctor had acted as he liked and shown no regard for her sense of decency. "Why couldn’t he at least ask me to undress myself, or wait for a nurse to be present before doing so?" she asked. "My boyfriend says this is not normal at all." Lai plans to lodge a complaint with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) next week when she has recuperated from her throat operation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Get your FREE ShyMail account! http://www.shymail.com/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( Melanggan ?
