KUALA LUMPUR, Wed: A witness told the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia
(Suhakam) today that those present during the Nov 5 illegal assembly were
unable to adhere to the police order to disperse as the police was still
blocking the road.
Businessman Johari Abdul, 45, said police gave the order to disperse using a
hailer from on top of an FRU truck at a roadblock before the Kesas highway
toll booth heading towards Klang.
"However, those present were unable to disperse as they were afraid to move
forward," he said, adding that the crowd present was not rowdy or unruly.
Johari said he talked to ASP Bawandi Hiralal later in the afternoon along
with his friend Idris Ibrahim, the brother of former Deputy Prime Minister
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, on the possibility of the police removing their
roadblock.

He said he was then referred to Selangor CID chief SAC II Datuk Mangsor
Ismail with whom he had a discussion for about 20minutes.
Johari said there was a lot of violence during the incident as he saw many
people getting pulled out of their cars and being beaten by police officers.

The Parti Keadilan Nasional supreme council member was testifying at the
Suhakam open inquiry into alleged human rights abuse during the Nov 5
illegal assembly at Jalan Kebun, Klang.
The inquiry is chaired by Suhakam panel member Tan Sri Anuar Zainal Abidin,
sitting with two other panel members, Prof Mehrun Siraj and Tan Sri Simon
Sipaun.
Later in his testimony, Johari said he was present the day before at Jalan
Kebun when police arrested several people for no reason.
"When I got there, I saw the Shah Alam Municipal Council workers telling
those who had set up their stalls to pack up and leave," he said.
