Try the little spongy things that you can find in any hardware store.

If you aren't ready to spend big bucks, try the ER-20 earplugs from www.etymotic.com
They are $12 + shipping and better than the foam ones in the hardware store: they reduce volume without muffling the sound so badly and they are easily washable.
