Yes, another good lesson is to post bug reports to SF.net so we can also 
track them. ;-)

Let's do this ASAP. We can back it out later, but at least the code will 
be temporarily consistent.

Yes, I agree that this is The Right Way(tm). It's definitely a bug that 
it's not currently specifying the *true* location of words.
