Problem. Its called New Maintainer Application. Well, I am the one in charge for htdig on the debian side (but still rely on sponsored uploads to get it into the archive). Hence my Problem.

good to get a version of the 3.2.0-branch into Sarge (which is freezing right now, and might be released in fall)

For this reason, would it be possible to create a snapshot that can be considered more or less stable, but doesn't feature tons of debugging enabled (so indexing isn't as slow as posted in the last bug report I sent to this list)?

Have you already got a packaged version of the branch?

Cheers,

Currently in Sarge is 3.2.0b5-4. Unstable has -5. Both rely on the official 3.2.0b5 (ie. version of last december).

My repository of htdig versions is at

http://users.linuxbourg.ch/ribnitz/debian

Those versions are built on i386 (Sarge)

However, given the following bugs:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=244867 (extremely slow indexing -> unoptimised htdig, important bug)

and

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=242807 (bad interpretation of robots.txt, Release Critical bug)

I am not sure htdig 3.2.0b5 will be ready for inclusion in debian Sarge (preparatives for freezing right now). The 3.1.6 Version on the other hand is very old and has quite a few (also RC) issues, that seem to have been fixed in the 3.2.0 branch.

For me to feel comfortable, I'd like to see all bugs of severity important (or higher) solved. For this reason I'd suggest branching from cvs on a given date, building a package with the currenlty ipmlemented set of features. (3.2.0rc1?)
