  • Noisy frogs invading Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Several of the Hawaiian Islands are experiencing a noise problem created by thousands of tiny tree frogs.

Sized between a dime and a quarter, the frogs are capable of creating piercing chirps as high as 90 to 100 decibels. That's about the level of a table saw.

    Cash dispenser spreads Christmas cheer

PARIS, France -- On Monday, a daily French newspaper reported that a cash dispenser in the Riviera town of Antibes had been returning twice the amount of cash requested, but logging only the requested amount.

Some patrons of the supermarket where the machine is located took it as a sign from Father Christmas. The newspaper reported that most of the extra cash was spent on Chirstmas gifts in the store.

    Kremlin approves anthem lyrics

MOSCOW, Russia -- The poet whose pro-Stalinist stanzas graced the former USSR anthem has written a new version which has been approved by a Kremlin advisory panel.

Sergei Mikhalkov's lyrics are to go with the music of the old Soviet anthem, which Russia this week reinstated as its national hymn, officials said on Wednesday.

MOVIE OF THE WEEK: smoking gun

NEW YORK (CNN) -- When it comes to following the celebrity paper trail, nobody does it better than a pair of New Yorkers who post anything involving famous people on their Web site, from police reports to tax returns to contracts.

Bill Bastone and Dan Green don't just dig up the dirt, they dig up the quirky and place it on their Web site, The Smoking Gun.
