I think the idea is that H2's sequencer would then control LinuxSampler via MIDI, and the drumkits would be "somehow" migrated to LinuxSampler's format (which I think is GIG). Thus, the H2's instrument editor becomes a frontend for libgig (or something). > LinuxSampler ( or $opensource-sampler). > Another important point is the portability: it might be harder to port > such an application to win / mac os x. Yeah. But I think LinuxSampler is already ported to those platforms. However, I don't like LinuxSampler's license. In fact, if H2 depends on LinuxSampler, I think that puts us in non-free, and it can't be used in things like Trinity Audio's device. > I don't know if something like this exists :( Not that i want to drop > the H2-Sampler, but its interesting to think of these things.. Well, throwing out another idea: H2 is "pattern-based sequencing." We've also talked about ideas for improving that interface. What if we extend it to "loop-based sequencing/sampling." So, we can loop drum patterns or trigger audio loops. Then we have something much like Ableton Live (and about as easy to use). ...again... just an idea.
