Selamat buat PGSC...!

PROFILE OF PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES STUDY CENTRE (PGSC)

Background

The PGSC (Petroleum Geosciences Study Center) is an independent
interdisciplinary organization specializing in applied studies of
petroleum geosciences and integrates disciplines from petroleum geology,
petroleum geophysics and petroleum engineering. It was founded and
committed to maximize the role of the Indonesia petroleum geoscientists
communities, especially universities communities, in petroleum exploration
and development activities.

Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the PGSC are :

1) to become a regionally, nationally and internationally recognized
centre for applied petroleum geosciences studies by conducting client
specific studies for industry

2) to develop new research ideas, applications and techniques in petroleum
geosciences

3) to provide the petroleum industry a centre of training in the petroleum
geosciences

4) to foster cooperation in the petroleum geosciences field between
industry, academia and government

5) to train students and fresh graduates for careers in petroleum
exploration and development

6) to provide information and disseminate knowledge on petroleum
geosciences to the wider community

Facilities

The PGSC maintains a computing facility built of around 20 double-monitor
Sun Ultra 80 and Sunblade workstations which are networked together, and
access a combined disk capacity of approximately 2 Terra Byte. Peripherals
include high-end PCs, plotters, exabyte, DAT, 9 track tape transport. A
large suite of licensed software is available on the workstations,
providing users with access to a wide variety of functions such as seismic
interpretation, seismic processing, seismic modeling, reservoir
simulation, wireline log analysis, basin modeling, geohistory modeling,
maturation modeling, digitizing and mapping. There is a suite of
Window-based and Lynux-based PCs equipped with a variety of word
processing, spreadsheet and drafting softwares, and are networked to the
workstation system, with access to the Internet. All facilities equipped
with high IT security standard.

Current Activities

PGSC's current activities can be summarized as follows

1. Collaborating with universities to perform Geology, Geophysics and
Reservoir studies.

2. To provide training as well as jobs for fresh graduates in petroleum
geosciences fields.

3. To provide link and match service between job seeker and oil industries
as the job provider.

4. To provide free of charges hardware and software supports for Doctoral,
Master and Bachelor degree students.

5. To provide free of charges hardware and software supports for certain
scientific and professional organizations to do their non-commercial
scientific research.

Membership

Anyone interested in the field of petroleum geosciences are welcome to
apply for PGSC membership which is free of charge. PGSC provides its
members with regular updates on the job opportunities, recent news and
scientific publications in the petroleum geosciences field. Depend on the
availability, PGSC members can also utilize PGSC facilities as long as it
is related with non-commercial scientific research and/or academic
activities. Members from universities academia will be prioritized to
utilize PGSC's facilities for their activities.

Currently PGSC has around 100 members, holding Bachelor to Doctoral
degrees, with working experiences ranging from 0 (fresh graduates) to 25
years. To apply for PGSC membership, please send your application letter
and CV by e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
