Only limited numbers of papers and publications have been released by company or researcher describing this area. This fieldtrip is aimed to give the participants advanced knowledge of structural geology, stratigraphy, groundwater, minerals and petroleum systems in West Arm Sulawesi especially in South Sulawesi Province. There are a lot of outcrops, morphology and sight-view to be visited along this 5-days-4-nights trip crossing the West Arm of Sulawesi. These geological objects represent the geological history of the area which are going to be discussed comprehensively by the trip leaders during the trip so as to give the participant advanced knowledge of West Arm of Sulawesi geology, i.e.: tectonic setting, structural development, lithostratigraphy succession, basin history and also application for oil and gas, mining, groundwater, and for some extent: engineering geology. Some of the best outcrops in West Arm of Sulawesi will be visited. Among others are: Bantimala area with its mιlange complex, limestone of Tonasa Formation, quartz sandstone of Mallawa Formation, volcanic sediments of Camba Formation, and limestone of Toraja Formation. Of a special interest for petroleum geology, the trip will also visit outcrops in the Sengkang basin area, which has been proven gas producing basin in Sulawesi for several years now. Mr. Bambang Priyadi (Geology Dept. ITB), Mr. Nusatriyo Guritno (CNOOC) and Mr. Kaharuddin M.S. (Geology Dept. UNHAS) are the three experienced leaders who will guide this fieldtrip. Some papers and publications resulted from their research in West Arm of Sulawesi area. This fieldtrip also offers geotourism aspects of the South Sulawesi Province. The beauty of Tana Toraja highland offering unique culture, ritual ceremony, traditional stone cemeteries and house called tongkonan, with beautiful landscape of mountain, river and valley. Also in Sengkang area we can find Tempe Lake and handmade woven silk that can be brought for souvenir from Sulawesi.
