Barry,

Not sure where you got that impression. My Q setsys display showed
Partialtape Migration=reuse Backup=reuse which is what I wanted. However it
showed Partialtape=Markfull in the DSBACKUP section of the display. That was
rectified by the HSEND DEFINE SWITCHTAPES(DSBACKUP(AUTOBACKUPEND
PARTIALTAPE(reuse)))

Thank You,
Dave O'Brien

According to MVS System Messages Vol 2 (ARC0269I), the QUERY command will
display PARTIALTAPE=SETSYS if HSM will take the action specified on a SETSYS
command. It looks as if your SETSYS command failed or was overridden for some
reason.

Allan,

BACKUP and MIGRATION are separately controlled. - Yes, I knew that and had
specified
 SETSYSPARTIALTAPE(BACKUP(reuse) MIGRATION(reuse))

But the Partialtape=markfull for DSBACKUP did not change until I specified

 HSENDDEFINE SWITCHTAPES(DSBACKUP(AUTOBACKUPEND PARTIALTAPE(reuse)))

It does not seem to be a matter of either/or but rather it is necessary to
issue both parms.

Anyway Markfull no longer appears on my Q Setsys which is what I wanted.
