Hello folks, I have been trying to send a simple snmp trap from z/OS to another host for some basic monitoring purposes. I found the /bin/snmp executable and its documentation in the link below:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/F1A1C260/7.1?SHELF=EZ2ZO10K&DT=20070604123226 Also I´ve read parts of the "Managing OS/390 TCP/IP with SNMP" Redbook and got some notion about SNMP agents and the needed configuration. In this book I have read the capacity of trap forwarding for the z/OS snmp agent and other stuff. Surprisingly, the command line tool (/bin/snmp) that interfaces with the snmp agent task only gives me the opportunity to RECEIVE TRAPS and not to SEND THEM. Reading over and over the snmp command syntax it is clear that I am not able to send a trap, only work with the SET/GET functions, creating a fake MIB entry on both endpoints to set some value. Am I wrong? What can be done? Why the send trap function is not available? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
