I have always done it like this:

    domain.com smtp:mail.destination.com

and never had a problem.

>From reading this I assume it would be preferred to use this notation 
instead, if I don't want to get into any sort of looping situation:

   domain.com smtp:[mail.destination.com]

Is that assumption correct?
