I could be wrong, of course, but my guess is that the ~3% speed decrease
a) is not really significant to 95% of the users (I mean _really_
significant; of course, everyone is going to whine about it first) and
GC is not really useful to 95% of the users either, so is 5% of the
users important or not?
b) is going to be eliminated over time
What is going to be eliminated, the slowdown? How?
