Most radio listening takes place in the car or while doing other things that
allow freedom for the ear, but not the eyes and hands. Podcasts permit a shift
of listening time from a set appointment to virtually any convenient occasion.

I do it while “power walking” (most) every other day. The “art” of putting one
foot in front of the other can be pretty monotonous and by “podding along” my
mind gets something to do along with my body. Some of the best radio comes
from the public networks of the UK, Australia, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and
the U.S. Apart from the originating program’s web site, most programs are made
available through any number of other amalgamation sources such as iTunes and
TuneIn. Here’s another in a continuing series of small samples:

We go with a bit of a change of pace in this issue, away from the more sober
treatment of current events and other serious tpoics that characterize most of
the programs highlighted in this space thus far. For me at least, I’ve found
that it really helps to laugh a little while exercising. These are two
long-running series from BBC Radio 4 that really fit that bill.

JUST A MINUTE - BBC Radio 4
Panel game in which the celebrity contestants are challenged to speak for one
minute without hesitation, deviation or repetition on any subject that comes up
on the cards. Nicholas Parsons has been Chairman of BBC Radio 4's Just a
Minute for over 40 years. This light-hearted series currently is in its 75th
cycle and normally runs for about 10 weeks at a time, sharing its slot with
other popular Radio 4 panel games and quiz shows.. (30”)

via iTunes under the title “Comedy of the Week”.)

THE NEWS QUIZ - BBC Radio 4
Topical panel quiz show, taking its questions from the week's news stories,
currently chaired by Miles Jupp. This long-running satirical analysis of
current events in Britain and abroad currently is in its 90th ten week series
of programs, sharing its slot with other popular Radio 4 panel games and quiz
shows. (30”)
