Job Announcement Type: Lecturer on Transnational Feminism Institution: Women's and Gender Studies Program, Northern Arizona University (NAU) Location: Flagstaff, AZ (USA) Deadline: 15.2.2017 __________________________________________________ The Women's and Gender Studies Program (WGS) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) invites applications for one or more Lecturer position with primary teaching and research interests in transnational and/or indigenous feminism. We particularly encourage applications from candidates whose work focuses on an innovative and rigorous interdisciplinary approach to teaching about the Global South and/or Indigeneity. Applicants with disciplinary emphases on one or more themes such as, Islam, gender, and sexuality; reproductive justice and sexual, queer, and/or trans politics; sexuality and settler colonialism; indigenous feminism; gender and diaspora are strongly encouraged to apply. The Women's and Gender Studies Program offers a Bachelor’s Degree, WGS Minor, a Queer Studies Minor, and Graduate Certificate. These positions are teaching focused, non-tenure eligible, at the rank of Lecturer. These positions are expected to be continuing, with potential for promotion. Renewal is contingent on performance and department needs. The successful candidate is expected to teach core and elective classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels within the WGS program. Rotation of possible course offerings may include introductory classes such as; Women, Gender and Ethnicity; Transnational Feminisms; Introduction to Feminist Theories and Methods; upper division thematic classes in the candidate’s area of specialization; graduate seminars on Feminist Theories and topics class. WGS seeks faculty who are committed to student success through teaching practice informed by scholarship, and those who will actively participate in program-building, and contribute to the intellectual and administrative life of the unit. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or related fields with clear emphasis in women, gender or sexuality studies completed by August 21, 2017. Preferred Qualifications Focused and formal academic training in the field of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Must be trained and able to teach core WGS courses including feminist theories, approaches to transnational feminism, and/or indigenous feminism, as well as, courses in the candidate’s field of specialization. Preference will be given to candidates with experience, ability, and interest in employing feminist pedagogy in teaching classes, and with evidence of teaching and service within an intersectional feminist framework. Preference will also be given to candidates with a commitment to and success in advancing diversity and working with other faculty members and student groups in and outside the classroom.
